Science Education Citizenship and Truth -
a new project to re-establish trust in science

If the first half of 2025 has taught us anything, surely it's that the rise of misinformation continues on an upward trajectory (notice the second-degree differential there). The world is at a point where this misinformation - about vaccination and climate change particularly - poses a serious threat to humanity.

There is an urgent need to educate people about science and how - through scientists' search for correspondence truth - it provides us with the only reliable way we have of understanding and interacting with the natural world. This is the mission of the SECT project, in which I am pleased to be working together with a former colleague and two colleagues from the US.

We're currently working together on a series of papers for publication later this year from which we intend will grow an ambitious programme to get our ideas out into the world (and into schools in particular).
